At the July club meeting this past Thursday, Alan Annear spoke briefly about the new TRUST safety test for recreational flyers. Full details about TRUST can be found here:

In summary, TRUST is The Recreational UAS Safety Test. It provides education and testing for recreational flyers on important safety and regulatory information. If you fly your drone recreationally under the Exception for Recreational Flyers you must pass the test before you fly.

To take the test, follow this link:

TRUST Test

This is a “no fail” course. This just means that you can retake the course as many times as needed to pass it. There is no cost. Once you pass you will be presented with a certificate. Please be sure to save and/or print this for future reference because once you leave the page you will not be able to return to it without retaking the course (the certificate is NOT saved with your FAA account).

At the moment, the details regarding whether or not this test will be REQUIRED to fly are still unknown. Our understanding is that this is optional, but the FAA is really pushing it. As such, this test is NOT required for DSM Modelaires membership at this time.
